Another Hole in His Head

About a year ago daycare called me at work and said that Austin had fallen and split his forhead open. So I rushed him to emergency in Gridley for 3 stitches. Yahoooooo! Austin was fine. Didn't cry or anything. Barely even a scar. Well, today we were at the park and I was ready to go. So I told Avery to start heading for the car. She asked to stay just a few more minutes. So I figured, what could it hurt since it was such a nice day. Not even 5 minutes later I hear Austin scream. I say the usual, come here, you're o.k. As he came into sight I see a gyser of blood squirting out of his head and pooling up on his shoulder. So we rush for the car. I'm carrying Austin and Nolan and Avery are following me. I get Austin in the car and turn around and Nolan is almost all the way across the parking lot and Avery is yelling, "Austin's bleeding." Long story short, the doctor said to save him the dramatic experience, skip the stapling of his skull, and keep neosporin on it. Poor guy. His his o.k. now. Milking it like anyone else would.

I HATE THE SUGAR BOWL!

Of all the things I hate most in this house, it's this dang sugar bowl. Whenever I am having a bad day, or just want to get home, get dinner done, get baths done and relax, the sugar bowl strikes again. Tonight the step stool was out and Nolan was carrying it around the house. Can you guess what happened? When I was the most distracted back in the bedroom, Nolan decided to see what he could get to on the counter. Since there was no knives he could grab this time, he decides that the sugar bowl is the next best thing. You know when you finally get around to mopping the floor and it feels so good to walk barefoot and not worry about stepping on crumbs or something sticky, and to no evail, something always gets spilled the next day. Ya. I HATE THE SUGAR BOWL.

Happy Birthday Avery and Austin!

What a great Birthday! We had a big family birthday party at Aunt Susan's this year, celebrating Grandma's birthday as well as the twins and others! It was fun. We did get rained on a little bit, but that just added to the excitement. There were lots of people there. Cousins, aunts, uncles, and new babies. The kids played and played. The hardest part was keeping the fingers out of the cake. I can't believe Austin and Avery are 4! Time does fly.

Trick-or-Treat!!!

This was the first Halloween we didn't spend at home trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. Garrett had a football game and I wasn't sure what to do. Thank goodness for family. We decided to head to the Ville and go see the aunts. First we went to Aunt Susan's and Angie's. Then we went to Aunt Brenda's and mooched dinner and visited her neighbors. Then we went to Aunt Sandra's and visited her and her neighbors. The kids had a blast. They would have gone all night. We came home with way too much candy and tired legs. Thank you Uncle Chris for tagging along and helping. I couldn't have done it without ya.
Just a thought: It is so weird how things are changing. Sad, I think. When we were little every door in our neighborhood was open on Halloween, and every kid was dressed up and running up and down the street. What happened to those days when people were out just to have fun and enjoy each other? What happened to people on the front porch enjoying the evening and visiting with passer by's? Now people are too lame and scared to do such things. Is it really that bad that people can't enjoy life? Why does it have to be this way?
