Just Good Wholesome Fun!

So sometime before the summer was over, when it was still hot, the kids and I went to yogurt at the shop by our house. It is always a hit. Those are the best times just sitting there enjoying each other, eating whatever flavor we want and having any topping we want too! Can't get any better. Nobody whines about a yogurt trip. So I had the camera in my purse and here is what we were doing while sitting in the yogurt shop. People must think we are weird. Who cares.

Avery's Haircut

So I thought I would make it easier on myself and have Avery's hair cut short. Still not easy. Until she can do her own hair, it won't be easy. It is fun to do up all pretty for school. I do like it longer better. There are more things I can do with it. Either way, she is my little beautiful girl. I love her.

Austin's Killer Black Eye

Austin and Nolan had a head on collision at Grammy and Grandpa's house and Austin got the worst of it right in the eye. It swelled so bad and turned his eye black. He was afraid that the kids would make fun of him at school, but they didn't. It's all good.

First Day of 1st Grade

Austin and Avery started out the school year as a Shasta Bobcat. They were in two seperate classes this year and loving it. Avery's teacher was Mrs. Kellogg and Austin's teacher was Mrs. Avalis. They loved their teachers and classes, but due to travel and Garrett and I working out of town, we decided it would be better for all of us if the twins went to McKinley where I am teaching kindergarten. (Yes, that's right, I am teaching kindergarten and I love it.) So a month into school and Austin and Avery transfer and become McKinley Mallards with me. They are still in seperate classes. Austin has Mrs. Levin and Avery has Mrs. Houck and they love their new classes. It was an easy move and quick adjustment. It is so great seeing my kids at school. I check in on them and they check in on me. Next year Nolan will be there with me and the twins will be a few blocks away at Wilson. They are going to the afterschool program at Wilson with Karen Fawns and her son Jacob. Karen is one of my friends from the high school. Everything just worked out so well and things are going great. Busy, but great.

The Last Summer Adventure

The last big thing we did before summer was over was the Howarth Family Reunion in Gridley. We got to visit with some family from all over the states. We had water games, crafts, and good food. It was nice to see everyone and catch up. It is so crazy how life goes by so fast and people grow up and have their own stories. I love hearing about everyones life stories. It is so interesting to me to learn how people lived. I always wanted to live in the past. Sometimes when I go to my grandmother's house, I will go down in the basement and admire all of her things she has down there from the past. It is so neat to see and know that each thing has a story to tell. I love asking grandma about her things and hearing stories.

Go Giants

Garrett and I made it to the new stadium to see the Giants play against the Phillies. It was a 10th anniversary present from Garrett. Garrett had taken me to a Giants game when we first met for my 21st birthday and here we are again. Older, wiser, and tireder :)

The game was pretty boring, but there was a fight that broke out. That was cool. We sat around some dramatic people. Always fun to watch drama. As long as we aren't involved.

The Kids First Trip to the Ocean

The kids loved going to Fort Bragg. We stayed at the Beachcomber. It was perfect. We played on the beach, went to a light house, went sight seeing (saw sea lions and tide pools), found a mini water park, and walked the town. We found this great Italian restaurant. Yum. Avery was terrified of the waves most of the time after she fell right before one got her. The boys were the opposite. They couldn't stay out of the waves. Garrett loved the relaxation and just watching the ocean. I loved it all. Not as good as Hawaii, but it was the ocean just the same. I can't wait to go back. Oh, and note to self - don't forget the Dramamine for the way there AND the way back.

This was right outside our room. The kids liked to feed the seagulls. Austin called them "scuttles".
