Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Sunday, we were bored and looking for something to do. Garrett has been great about coming up with fun things to do. So his bright idea on Sunday was to take the kids down to the park and fly their kites that Grami got them for Easter. We had a blast. It was breezy, but not a constant wind, so when the wind would die down we told Austin and Avery to run to keep the kite up. They thought it was the greatest thing. Lets just say, they acted like pros. Avery was telling Austin when to run and Austin was showing off with his professional holds on the string and laying down and the grass and flying his kite. Nolan, the poor guy, is not quite big enough to keep up with his big brother and sis, as much as he wants to. It's such a battle. Because he can't do the same things he gets upset. Then of course we have two of everything and not three. He gets his fair share though, and definately holds his own. All the running that day wore the kids out. They slept great.

Monday after work, it was really windy outside and the kids were begging to fly thier kites again. So we stopped at the park. It was so windy, I was kind of worried that the kids would lose their kite, or worse, burn their hands on the string. So I thought I would try it first. It was scarey. I was scared. Avery was crying that her kite was going to fly away and Austin was telling me how to hold the string and begging me to let him have a turn. Well, I wound the string up as fast as I could and we left. It was so funny because all the way home from the park (three blocks) the kids were talking about the big wind. When we pulled in the drive way Austin asked if the wind could blow our house away. I just had to laugh. The kids really used to be afraid of the wind and things blowing away. They would cry when anything was blown by the wind. Thankfully they are over it and I can finally hang my chimes. Isn't it funny how kids think. They make me laugh every day.
